What is LEA?
It is defined as when there is insufficient energy to support normal physiological function after the cost of energy expended during exercise has been removed.
In other words: It is when the body does not have enough energy from the diet for individuals to exercise AND have sufficient energy to carry out basic bodily functions.
What is RED-S?
It is a syndrome that impairs the function of many body systems. For example, the cardiovascular, gastrointestinal, reproductive and endocrine body systems to name a few. If these body systems (and others) are not functioning optimally, this can then impair sports performance.
