Are you:
fatigued
irritable
irregular or missing menstrual cycles (women)
low libido (men and women)
frequently injured or sick
not adapting to your training as well as you think you should…
Have you considered the amount of food you consume could be the issue? You could be in a Low Energy Availability (LEA) state. That is when your body doesn’t have enough energy to function optimally. And this can have a MASSIVE impact on a range of body systems (e.g. reproductive, hormones, bone health, gut function), your mood, recovery, and training adaptation. LEA is the main cause of a syndrome called Relative Energy Deficiency in Sport (RED-S).
We want to avoid LEA/RED-S as this can have a NEGATIVE impact on your performance. But it goes much deeper than this and an approach to overcome LEA requires an approach that involves many pieces to a puzzle. As we are incredibly unique beings, so should the approach to improving your performance.
Would you rather:
feel energized and excited
be resilient and robust to injury and illness
adapt to your training and improve your performances?
At ‘k-s’, I use a multidimensional approach and evidence-based recommendations to make sure you are firing on all cylinders so you can receive that solid-sounding high-five (who doesn’t love a high-five?!), and achieve those personal bests you are training for.

I have turned to Katie for support and guidance as an athlete and as a coach of young female athletes. Katie has a wealth of knowledge and does an incredible job of putting complex information into practical, applicable advice. Coming from an athletic background herself, Katie understood and empathised with my confusion around conflicting knowledge and worked with me to change my mindset and perspective. Katie remains a strong sounding board for me and someone I can rely on. Katie is caring and encouraging and I strongly recommend her.
